Stephen Markuson’s extensive career has encompassed performances throughout
Europe, Canada, and the United States.  His energetic, personalized characterizations
remain unique in opera, theatre and American musical theater.  In his 30+ years on the
stage, Steve has performed major roles with companies such as Florentine Opera,
Canadian Opera Company, Aspen Music Festival, Tulsa Opera, Il Teatro Lirico D’Europa
(Paris, France), Tulsa Opera, Toledo Grand Opera, Menotti’s Festival di Due Mondi,
Opera Orchestra of New York, San Francisco Opera and was a member of the inaugural
cast of the Glimmerglass Opera.  In addition, Steve has premiered stage works by Thomas
Pasatieri, Ed London and Libby Larson.  He brings the singing voice back to comic
characterizations and is especially sought for Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti.  The dramatic
